Paintings

This is a series of paintings that I produced and the accompanying photographs from the exhibition from 2008. The work was inspired by my childhood fascination with ancient Egypt. The colours, textures and materials moved and inspired me so much when I was young that I wanted to implement them into my works. I used plaster rolls to symbolise the embalming process of mummification, Gold paints and gold leaf as see on the pharaohs sarcophaguses and bees wax were all used in combination to create these highly tactile and textured effects.

Most of the square canvases are 1m x 1m.
